The promise of AI is so enormous it can be a bit overwhelming at the outset. As we’ve engaged the medical device and life science marketplace, we’ve hit upon a common opportunity for AI: The repetitive, yet requisite tasks and documentation required to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
This can speak directly to your QMS platform, of which AI can provide a customized, dynamic alternative that adjusts to your processes and procedures while maintaining full compliance. We’ve talked with numerous people that have shared their frustration with “off-the-shelf” QA platforms that force companies to adapt to the platform's limitations rather than the platform adapting to their processes…AI does the exact opposite. It adapts to your unique needs and processes while ensuring full compliance.
In addition, bespoke, AI-QMS platforms can save companies tens of thousands of dollars on seat licenses, acquisition and installation costs and lock-in your Quality System expenses for years to come. Bespoke AI can also address the numerous other reporting and data gathering requirements required by FDA and other reporting bodies (e.g., Development Safety Update Reports, Periodic Safety Update Reports and ongoing market surveillance).
Other pain points may exist as well.

The AGIL f(x) team had the privilege of traveling to Japan last week to install a custom AI product for a medical device components manufacturing client. This particular company receives dozens of monthly purchase orders form all corners of the globe. Extracting the critical details from these disparate formats of orders required a lot of hand work. Not anymore. We introduced a custom AI product that extracts the critical data from these various documents, standardizes it for manufacturing, and records the documentation trail. We also introduced another AI product for shipping, again, coordinating and collecting the various documents and data necessary to ship product internationally. The cost of both custom AI products was under $10,000.
This application will easily pay for itself in productivity gains and error elimination in a matter of weeks. More importantly, the AI is now a working asset within the operational framework of the company and will continue to pay dividends for years to come.
This engagement is a great example of where companies can begin to adopt AI capabilities. Low cost, high return, near nuisance, repetitive tasks that no one enjoys performing are alleviated from the day-to-day requirements of the team. It’s also a great example of illustrating how AI can accentuate job performance, alleviating rank and file concerns around displacement by the technology.
